what is sikhi's attitude towards sants? i know some people that are really against them because of their greed or other things but i want to know if we're supposed to follow them?
Hello, love!
Simply put, Sikhs are to look towards Guru Granth Sahib for guidance. Also, individuals labeling themselves as a reincarnation of a Guru are committing themselves to falsehood. Sants are humans, just like us. It is one thing to show respect and recognize the spiritual elevation of sants and their words but to worship them is entirely different. God is within everything and everyone but they are not God, Himself. They do not have the power to solve your problems. Bowing to them as though they are God is false. The only Guru that we should be bowing to is Sri Guru Granth Sahib. The words that many sants communicate to others is of importance. However, the individual behind the words are not to be worshipped.
It’s also important to realize that not all sants are greedy and what have you. There are many that have committed themselves to seva.
