I have not taken amrit but I get judged a lot by people who have or even haven't because they say my actions, like me cutting my hair are against Sikhism so it doesn't make sense for me to pray since that means I am not religious.. it makes me feel guilty about praying like I'm putting up a false appearance..

My love, here is what you have to do: block out those statements.

Praying is not limited to amritdharis. That is nonsense! Do you know what praying is for? For a higher elevation. To build and maintain a connection with Waheguru. However, praying for reasons, such as money is where one takes sort of a wrong turn. Most people who pray for personal things (money, job, etc.) will stop praying after they have obtained it. We are to pray to excel our relationship with Waheguru and to weed out the illusions in this world. The more we have this experience, the more we become in tuned with our self and Waheguru.

Do not let such words and individuals stop you from doing paath. Do not feel guilty about doing paath! Paath is not meant to make you feel guilty.
